Ballingeary Cycle Loop Directions
0 to 10km
From the centre of Ballingeary cycle east on the R584 out of town. You ride past Lough Allua and the road then leaves the shore [5km marker]. Pass three minor left turns and take the very narrow next left (the L34033) just after passing a large shed.
You go up a steep hill. Keep left as it goes around a sharp left bend. You go around numerous corners as the surface gets worse and fantastic views open up. Keep going and soon you reach a t-junction.
Turn left on a far better surface and ride the last part of the hill.
10 – 20km
Go down the other side and up another hill. When you reach a crossroads go straight through. When you reach a t-junction with a wider road, turn right [15km marker].
Soon you take the first left turn beside a school. Pass a church and stay on this road until you reach a t-junction, where you turn left. When the road forks, keep right, downhill.
Then take the next left turn, where there is a grass triangle at the junction.
20 – 30km
When you reach a t-junction, turn right and go over a stone bridge. You gradually ride uphill [25km marker].
Take the first left turn, which makes a hairpin bend. At this junction, Top of Coom and the Kerry border is a few metres ahead, beyond the crest. But after taking the narrow left turn the road twists and turns.
