This short loop from Ballingeary takes you through some beautiful and varied countryside in one of the nicest and least-visited parts of West Cork. There are a couple of steep hills on it but the views are worth it. The roads here tend to be extremely quiet – you won’t meet many people out on this ride.
Ballingeary is a nice village in a great location, and a good destination for outdoor activities. It has everything you need for great cycling.
Top of Coom – This pub, currently being rebuilt, is the highest in Ireland. It lies on the border between Cork and Kerry.

Ballingeary is a Ghaeltacht (Irish speaking) area.
After the first few kilometres outside Ballingeary, the rest of the route is on exceptionally quiet backroads. It finishes with a long descent back to Ballingeary.
There are no buses to Ballingeary.
