Carrick-on-Suir Cycle Loop
Photo Gallery ///
This short loop takes you out of Carrick-on-Suir and up the infamous Seskin Hill, near where the great cyclist Sean Kelly grew up.
After that, you travel on the backroads for a few kilometres, with great views of The Comeragh Mountains, before joining the main road for the descent back to the town.
You get fine views back over the town from Seskin Hill, and also of Slievenamon – if you stop and manage to look up.
Sean Kelly Square is a small square on the west end of Main Street. Instead of turning left to return to the start of the route, go straight ahead. The Tannery Pub on the square has a selection of memorabilia from Sean Kelly’s career. Pop in and take a look.
Seskin Hill is a real leg-breaker of a climb, but if you love cycling, you have got to try it.
