Cycle Cork – Kinsale Loop to the gastronomic superstar town of Kinsale, the perfect pace to go after working up an appetite.
It is a great place to stay for an evening, if you want to break the ride in two. Though short, it has a number of short steep hills, but the great views compensate for tired legs.

You pass by the magnificent Charles Fort on the outskirts of Kinsale.
The ruin of Clontead Church is just off the route.
The Irish Camp at the Battle of Kinsale in 1601 is marked by a sign.
You cycle past The Lough in Togher in Cork City on your return – a small but lovely urban lake.
You pass St Fin Barre’s Cathedral on your return to Cork City.

Once you are outside of Cork City, the majority of this route is on backroads, apart from the section from Belgooly to near Kinsale. There is plenty of climbing, some of it steep, but it is required in order to stay off the main roads.
Bus 249 goes from Cork to Kinsale every couple of hours or so.
