Achill Island is reknowned for its beauty. After a visit to the quiet eastern end of Keel Beach beneath Menaun, you have an optional detour to the deserted village before riding around the north side of the island.
You head south from Achill Sound along a quiet road with a memorial to the Spanish Armada and fantastic views of Clare Island and Croagh Patrick.
This forms part of a 2-day ride along with Mulranny to Dooagh exploring Achill Island.
The Deserted Village is a short side trip of 7km return.
Keel beach is the most popular on the island.
Menaun Mountain has a road to its tv mast. Ride up for some amazing views over the island.
