Lismore is a small town with a beautiful setting on the banks of the River Blackwater. This route follows the mighty river downstream before climbing a ridge on a narrow country road with great views of the surrounding hills.

You finish with a fast descent to Lismore and great views of the imposing Knockmealdown Mountains behind it.

This short loop will take you to places nobody goes in a part of the country that is a secret to many. The one climb on the route is pretty steep, but is over pretty quickly and easily walkable if it comes to that.

Attractions

Lismore Castle Gardens are a real highlight. The castle itself is closed to the public.

Tourin House and Gardens is located on a lovely 5-acre site on the banks of the Blackwater.

Lismore Waterford Cycle Loop Useful Info

There is no train station in Lismore.

You can add this to either the Charleville to Cappoquin or the Cappoquin to Waterford rides, as Lismore is only a few kilometres from Cappoquin on a flat road.

Almost all of this route is on very quiet roads. Lismore itself is a small town.
