This ride is part of the Mizen to Malin Cycle. Most of it is on quiet backroads while taking a very direct route to Enniskillen.

While not spectacular, parts of it are quite scenic, particularly as you near Enniskillen.

Clonmacnoise Cycle Route Loop

The road to Clonmacnoise

This flat ride south from Athlone takes you to the famous monastery of Clonmacnoise on the banks of the Shannon. After crossing into Roscommon at Shannonbridge, you return north on quiet roads back to where you started.

On the way you get to see sections of bog, complete with railway tracks constructed to transport turf.
