Cycle Connemara – it was made for it, with big mountains and low passes. Hit Omey Island at low tide, detour to Inishbofin Island or visit Kylemore Abbey.

Connemara by bike is a great experience and this trip leaves plenty of time for exploring.

Cycle Galway to Clifden Route

As you cycle Galway to Clifden you pass the famous Salthill Beach and through several small villages. You pass Rossaveal, from where several boats a day leave for the magnificent Aran Islands – well worth a day or two’s visit.

As you ride on you enter more and more remote territory and get to enjoy quieter and quieter roads. The Twelve Bens loom into view to the north.

Clifden Sky Road Cycle Loop

This short loop takes you up over the famous Clifden Sky Road. The climb is just high enough to give you great views, but is not too steep.

There is a nice small beach that you can visit before returning past a lakeside road with views of the Twelve Bens opening up before you. This one is not to be missed if you are in the area.
