Slieve Blooms Short Cycle Loop

The lower slopes of The Cut

This ride is an easier alternative to the Slieve Blooms Long Loop. There is only one long climb and it has a cyclist-friendly gradient, never getting too steep.

Although there isn’t much to see from the top (it’s the Midlands) you can still see a long way. You also get some pretty good views on the cycle back to Portlaoise.

Slieve Blooms Long Cycle Loop

The Cut

The Slieve Blooms are the highest mountains in the midlands and this route takes in all three passes over them.

While the scenery can’t match that of many other regions, it is still a fun ride in a place overlooked by many.
