Climbing the Gap of Dunloe from the Black Valley

This route takes in one of the best parts of the Ring of Kerry – the Coomakista Pass.

Then you explore Derrynane and its sheltered beach. After a 20 kilometre section on the main road you head inland on quieter roads at Sneem and ending in Killarney after passing through the Gap of Dunloe.

This tour is an alternate to the main road if you want to Cycle Ring of Kerry, going down the beautiful, deserted roads of the interior of the Iveagh Peninsula.

This is one of the remotest parts of the country. You can add on a climb to Ballaghbeama Gap if you have the time.
