Leenane to Westport Cycle

Leenane to Westport - the north side of Killary Harbour

Leenane is the start point for this fantastic ride along Killary Harbour and past the beautiful Doo Lough and Sheeffry Passes.

Much of the route is on deserted backroads, and you will enjoy great views from the start to the finish in the cycling paradise of Westport, where cyclists are always welcome.

Cycle Mayo – Westport to Ballina

The road through Furnace

Cycle Mayo – this route takes you north from Westport through Newport and then into the remote Mayo countryside.

You travel through the townland of Furnace and past Lough Feeagh into a region withoutservices before riding along the foot of the majestic Nephin outside Crossmolina and continuing on to Ballina.

Cycle Westport – Doo Lough Loop

Sheeffrey Pass

Cycle Westport – head south towards Connemara through quiet countryside. The highlight of the trip is the gentle climb and fast descent of Sheefry Pass to the remote Tawnyard Lough before you reach the short climb up the famous Doo Lough valley.

You then have a fairly easy ride back to Westport past Croagh Patrick.

Westport Croagh Patrick Cycle Loop

The road down to Clew Bay

The Westport Croagh Patrick Cycle Loop is a way to see the other side of the famous mountain by cycling south from Westport. Very quickly you are on quiet roads in the countryside. There a couple of short climbs.

The return to Westport offers great views of Clew Bay and a well-maintained cycle lane on the main road.
